Why would I “blog”??

Why Blog?

Blogs have been around for a while, by lately, they’ve been popping up just about everywhere.  Everyone on the block has been going blog-crazy because it’s an cheap and easy way to express opinions, share knowledge, broadcast breaking news, showcase pictures, and converse with the world.  All the ways in which blogs can be used to share information make them very powerful business tools.

Why would an RV dealership start (and maintain) a blog?  We have 4 solid reasons:

1.  A blog adds life to your website

A blog allows you to have real person talking to your customers (other real people) online.  Adding a blog to your website will help inject personality to your site.  If you blog with some pizazz you’ll entertain your audience and spice up your customers’ experiences. Start a blog and make it interesting (always ask yourself, would I read this or skip it).  Share RVing anecdotes, camping stories, interesting industry & community news, and exciting promotions — and do it with personality.

2.  A blog can highlights your dealership’s expertise

You have the power to become a “go-to” information hub for your customers.  What is your dealership best at?  Service?  Parts?  Storage?  Customer Service?  Use your blog to highlight what you’re confident in, what you’re known for, and what you do best.  If you provide meaningful and valuable information to your customers they’ll come back.  Share your expertise and do with passion (it’ll show!).

3.  A blog can help with your search engine ranking

Blogging is an easy way to boost your organic search engine rankings.  Want to appear higher on Google search results?  A blog will help.  Search engines love new content.  If blog regularly and you’ll always have new content.  You also can benefit by adding keywords into your blog posts.  Think of search keywords you want to be associated with and sprinkle those keywords into your blog posts.  The more you blog (and the smarter you blog), the more “searchable” your site will become.

4.  A blog can boost your customer service reach

A blog is a tool that lets your communicate directly with customers. Blogs create a great opportunity to extend your customer service efforts.  There are a million creative ways to make your blog a customer service tool.  Encourage customers to comment on posts.  Ask them questions and respond back.  Tell stories about positive customer experiences.  Offer customer appreciate incentives through your blog.  Every chance you have to communicate with customers is a chance to showcase customer service.

If those are good enough reasons to get you thinking blog, let us know!  We have endless reasons we can share with you!  If this did peak your interest make sure to stay tuned, we’ll soon be talking about how to (and how not to) blog!

Does Facebook work for businesses?

I stumbled upon a great article today about using Facebook for businesses.  The article is fairly short, but full of great info.  If you’ve been questioning whether or not Facebook should be part of your dealership’s marketing strategy make sure to give it a read:

“Is Facebook Really a Good Tool for Business?”

My two key take-aways from the article:

1.  If your customer base uses Facebook you need a presence on Facebook. As a note for RV dealers, the fastest growing age group on Facebook is the 55+ group, and the 35-54 age group is right behind as the second fastest growing group.

2.  Facebook doesn’t do the work for you, you have to work at it to make progress for your business. This means (1) updating your business page on a regular basis (2) providing relevent (and valuable) info and incentives to your fans, and (3) encouraging fan participation.

Have you been struggling with how to harness Facebook to help with your marketing?  Let us know why and let’s talk about how to get past the struggle and make it work!

What are you waiting for?

“For companies, resistance to social media is futile.  Millions of people are creating cntent for the social Web.  Your competitors are already there.  Your customers have been there for a long time.  If you business isn’t putting itslef out there, it ought to be.”

Does it work for small businesses?

YES.

Social media doesn’t benefit only big companies with big budgets and big strategy.  On the local level it can be extremely powerful.  Word of mouth is one of the most powerful marketing tools at the local level, and social media is all about developing and leveraging word of mouth.  Social media allows you to reach out, listen, and talk one-on-one with customers.  Building this type of relationship with your customers can provide you with a wealth of ideas and opportunities.  Here’s an example:

Mo’ Bettah Steaks

For this small Salt Lake City restaurant, social media provided the opportunity to grow their customer base and open a second location. Communicating with customers opens doors!
