Remind me again, why social media?

The reasons why to utilize social media don’t require much hype.  We think it’s pretty easy to see that social media is something you should be excited about for your dealership, but just in case you’re just not there yet, here are our top reasons that social media should be a part of your marketing mix.

Here are our top 10 reasons to use social media:

1.    Hear what’s going on.

Social media offers businesses and dealerships an easy and holistic way to listen to what’s happening in their industry, their community, and to what their customers are saying. This inside view can have great impact on your marketing direction, promotion ideas, and sales strategy.

2.    Get the conversation started.

Starting conversations and interacting with your customers helps you engage and connect in a realm outside of your sales floor. Getting things moving in this direction can help build customer loyalty and top of mind awareness.

3.    Build a community.

Communities develop among social media outlets especially when they are geared towards a specific market or subject. Building a community will allow customers to see you as a leader in your area as well as give them the power to communicate and contribute to your conversations.

4.    Rev up your customer service.

With many businesses now using social media and other online outlets, your customers will expect to see a quick response to their customer service inquiries. Social media can help you step up your game and meet their demands.

5.    Give your dealership a personality boost.

Social media can help give your brand a personality and establish a voice that is different from other dealerships in your area. Thereby, giving you the edge up on your competition.

6.    Become a resource for your customers and your community.

Blogging among other outlets can help to establish your dealership as a resource for customers. By posting articles and opening yourself up to communication, your customers know they can trust your dealership and it’s advice in regards to their RV purchase.

7.    Promote your products and your sales.

Adding layers to your marketing promotions can help influence sales and drive traffic to your dealership. Using blogs, Twitter and Facebook to reach customers is a great way to amp up your marketing efforts.

8.    Drive traffic to your website.

As people become familiar with your dealership through social media, they’ll often detour to your website to get further information. These links increase traffic and build further top of mind awareness of your dealership.

9.    Find and develop prospective customers.

The outlets available through social media provide access to potential customers you may never have reached out to in the past. The addition of these new customers allows you to grow your customer base and contact new prospects.

10.    It’s not going away.

Ignoring social media will only work for so long. Because, it’s not going to go away anytime soon. The quicker you adopt social media practices the sooner you’ll start reaping the benefits.

There are many more reasons you should incorporate social media into your daily marketing plan, but we didn’t want to lose the important ones among the rest. Social media can be a vital tool in your marketing toolbox, don’t let it fall to the wayside.

Time to get your hands dirty

Dirty Hands 3 from ajmac

Social media affects everyone today whether they are actively participating it in or not. Twitter, Facebook, blogs and the likes are impacting the business of the small mom and pop dealership on the side of the highway and the big RV Superstore just outside of town. Whether or not you are inserting yourself into the conversation on popular social media sites or updating a blog, people out there are talking. Social media has the power to affect who knows about your dealership, and what their perception is of you.

Why not take an active role in the conversation and actively provide your customers accurate and constructive information? By getting involved and getting your hands dirty in social media you can have some control over the message. What you say, how your dealership is represented and how you respond to customers will all lead back to your dealership’s social media strategy as well as guide customers and potential customers in a way that meets your goals.

By staying out of the mainstream, and “keeping things simple” you may actually be hurting yourself. If people out there are talking, and you’re not aware of what they’re saying, you may be passing up opportunities that may not present themselves elsewhere. Your dealership could also be missing out on key customer service moments. Social media has played a huge part in continuing to modernize the customer service of both small and large businesses alike. If customers have complaints, the instantaneous nature of social media allows companies (like your dealership) to respond and remedy the problem quicker than in traditional methods like phone calls, emails, and snail mail correspondence.

At the end of the day the decision is yours, will you let others dictate what is said about your dealership, or will you take an active role in giving your customers what they want?
