Social Media for Dealers

Facebook videos, livening things up.

We’ve talked about incorporating video into your social media strategy and how it can create a more dynamic and engaging site for your customers. Adding a video to Facebook is no exception. It’ll liven up your Facebook page and provide your RV buyers with a unique, in-depth experience.

Uploading video is easy; it’s just like inserting a link or uploading a photo. Here’s how you get it done:

Select the video camera icon in your Facebook Status Bar, it’s the fourth in from the left.

The majority of the time you’ll probably just be uploading a video (instead of recording a video) so select the “Upload a Video” option from the menu. Your upload screen will then instantly appear. The video you are going to upload must be under 1,024 MB and less than 20 minutes long (and in reality, your video should probably be under 4 minutes… too long can get boring).

Select the “Browse” button and then choose the video file you’d like to upload from your computer. After you’ve selected your video file be sure to enter in text where it says “What’s on your mind?”. This text can give a brief description of the video, provide a unique headline or share anything else you’d like. Look everything over, once more, and when you’re ready, hit the “Share” button.

If this is your first time uploading a video to Facebook a screen will pop up asking you to agree to their terms of service. Select yes. While your video is uploading a second screen will pop up showing you the progress of your video and where you are in the uploading process – this may take a few minutes, so be patient. An “Upload Complete” box will appear after the file is finished uploading and will offer you two options “Close and Edit Video” and “Close”:

This is what Facebook will show when your video is done uploading

Simply click on “Close and Edit Video” where you’ll be taken to a screen that will let you further customize what appears on your RV dealership’s page.

The screen where you will tag and customize your video

You can “tag” people in your videos – this will let your followers know who appears in the video as well as link those people to the video posting. Tag everyone who’s in your video, this will help your video appear in more Facebook streams and get more attention. You can also title your video, add a description, select the thumbnail that will show on your profile and adjust your privacy settings.

As a final note, Facebook videos can also be embedded into your website. You can take the source code directly from Facebook and allow the video to appear in both places. An added bonus is the “Become a Fan” button (for Facebook) will then automatically appear next to your video!  That’s a great way to get visitors on your website to “Fan” you on Facebook!
